Mohamedou Ould Haye got his PhD degree in Dec. 2001 from the university of Lille 1 (France) in mathematics and statistics. Following his graduation he stayed one year as postdoc in Lille then 6 months in HEC Montreal. He joined Carleton University in 2003 as an assistant professor in Statistics and in 2007 he became an associate professor.
